What are climate projects?

Climate projects are essential tools in the global fight against climate change. They help lower or prevent greenhouse gas emissions through initiatives like forest conservation, reforestation, and the expansion of renewable energy sources. Beyond environmental benefits, these projects often contribute to sustainable development in local communities — for example, by improving access to clean water, enhancing infrastructure, creating employment, and protecting natural ecosystems.

Their broader social and environmental impact is often measured using the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include eradicating poverty, ensuring quality education, promoting clean energy, and supporting economic growth. Every ClimatePartner-supported project addresses at least one of these goals, with many advancing several at once. In fact, some projects offer such meaningful local benefits that they function more as development programs with environmental advantages.

Because greenhouse gases like CO₂ mix evenly in the atmosphere, it doesn't matter where emissions are avoided — their reduction anywhere helps the climate everywhere. That’s why supporting climate projects around the world is a powerful and effective part of any carbon offset strategy.
